Why your digital screen is the smartest position to show your ReFoundMe code
You take your smartphone, tablet, or laptop with you everywhere. And no matter how careful you are, one moment of distraction is enough:
Smartphone: it slips out of your pocket when getting out of a taxi.
Tablet: your child leaves it behind at a friend’s house or at school.
Laptop: you walk out of a meeting room while your device is still open on the table.
A person who finds your device often wants to return it — but can’t, because your contact details are locked behind a screen.
With the free digital ReFoundMe code, you solve this without putting your privacy at risk.
The code is displayed on your screen as an image. A finder simply scans the QR code to reach you — without seeing your name, phone number, or email address.
It’s the digital version of a luggage tag: instantly visible, completely secure, and usable worldwide.

Benefits of having your ReFoundMe code on your screen
Always visible: even when your device is locked.
Privacy-proof: your personal details remain hidden.
Globally scannable: the finder page is available in 6 languages and no app is required.
Free: you receive 3 digital ReFoundMe QR codes when you install the app.
How do I place the ReFoundMe code on my screen?
You’ll need: your background image (photo or wallpaper) + the ReFoundMe QR code image.
Using your own software?
Photoshop: drag your code as a new layer onto your background → export as PNG → set as lock screen.
Apple Preview (Mac): Edit → Insert → Image…
Windows Paint: open image → paste → save as a new file.

Helpful tips
1. Use someone else’s account for your phone
If you lose your phone, you won’t be able to access your own account. This means a finder or a ReFoundMe Hub cannot reach you.
Ask a family member, colleague, or friend if you can use one of their digital codes.
As soon as your phone is found, they will receive a notification and can take action.
This works both ways — if they lose their device, you’ll receive the alert.
Also ideal for children! Link your children’s devices to your account so you receive a notification when their phone, tablet, or laptop is found — without them needing account access.
2. Place your ReFoundMe code clearly, but keep it clean
Use a simple background so the QR code stands out. The more visible it is, the more likely someone will recognize and scan it.
3. Test your code in advance
Create a preview of your background with the code, set it temporarily, and scan it with another phone. This ensures everything works before you finalize
4. Keep a backup of your background
Save your combined image with the ReFoundMe code in the cloud (e.g. iCloud, Google Drive, or Dropbox), so you can easily restore it after loss or a factory reset.
